Loudon is a rural town with a very busy spine. Route 106 carries commuter and speedway traffic straight through it, and the businesses along that corridor — service shops, retail, restaurants and offices — sit behind road-facing glass that takes both sun and headlights. Away from 106, the town is farmland, wooded lots and pond properties around Clough Pond and Loudon Ridge, where homes sit on their own with long, unshaded exposures.
